The Arcade Master is the ultimate hi-tech entertainment gadget; a deluxe luxury item for the home, playroom, party room, garage, clubhouse or wherever.
Modern console systems do a fine job of bringing classic arcade games to a new generation of video gamers with perfectly translated ports, but as any "old school gamer" from that era will tell you, something is missing from these modern versions of old arcade games: the arcade controls themselves! That was half of the experience, but that is missing from all modern incarnations of these games!
Recent innovations in computer & LCD technology along with reductions in costs of materials and mass production, have slowly brought arcade-specific technology into a more wallet-friendly price range.
Nurmweb Games decided to look at this issue with fresh eyes and evaluate the available modern technology to make a multi-arcade or classic replica without breaking the bank.
Modern LCD monitors and televisions use less electricity, occupy less space and generate less heat than their CRT counterparts of the past. They've also become quite affordable compared to a decade ago. Many visitors here may have noticed the popular trackball golf games in restaurants, bars and hotels that use LCD monitors.
The prototype Arcade Master was built around the dimensions of a 32" LCD television (about half the price of a traditional arcade monitor), while also making sure the side panels could be cut from a single sheet (rather than 2) of MDF (medium density fiberboard, the material shown under construction at right). This approach of lower cost components that are just as functional as traditional components was central to the Nurmweb Games approach: keeping costs down but still getting the desired end product.
The Arcade Master has a powerful 42 Watt 2.1 stereo sound system with an array of speakers above the monitor and a subwoofer in the base of the cabinet. There is even an auxiliary input for an iPhone or MP3 player with an illuminated volume control conveniently placed in between the speakers.

The Arcade Master's special ability is the emulation of multiple arcade machines and early home console video game systems. The unique operating system ties all these systems together in a single intuitive menu system that is controlled with the controls on the control panel, with easy-to-understand onscreen control maps (see Operating System).
The Arcade Master comes with a package of the world's greatest arcade games plus many free optional add-ons that make this the ultimate home arcade! Each directory is user-upgradeable with more games, if so desired. (The machine comes with detailed instructions on how to add your own game ROMs.) Perhaps more importantly, the Arcade Master operating system will get free upgrades for life! This means updated software that is compatible with even more games and game systems. Future updates will include features like lists breakable into further categories like 4-player games, 4-way stick games, trackball games, etc.
