Contents:

1 - Helpful Hints

2 - Arcade Master Help File

1 - Helpful Hints:

  • Use the [Trackball] and [Player-1-Button-8] as a mouse & click.

  • Secret Windows Start Menu Short Cut:
         [Player-1-Button-1] + [Red-Exit-Button]

  • Always shut down the system by exiting out of the Arcade Master
menu with the Red Exit Button on the Admin Row to Windows, then
shut down Windows with START >> SHUT DOWN >> TURN OFF.
If power is interrupted in any other way, there is a good
chance that the intended operation of the system may suffer.
Use the included HELP FILE (found on the Arcade Master here:
START >> MY DOCUMENTS >> ARCADE MASTER HELP FILE.txt)
to learn how to properly Restore the System.

  • Scratches/chips in the finish of a black machine will probably
reveal the primer underneath. The perfect fix for this is a Sharpie (TM)
Fine Point black marker, THE perfect touch-up. Don't be afraid!

  • During normal operation in a climate-controlled environment
(the recommended circumstances for running the machine),
you should never need to remove the back panel. It can create
hazards for the internal pc (at bottom) like liquid spills, curious
felines (cats love getting in that thing -- beware!) or even a sheet
of paper could drift in and cover the PC's important cooling fans.

  • If the Arcade Master's working environment is too warm for a
boxed-in PC (ie: not climate-controlled; in the sun), then
it may be advisable to open the back panel for extra ventilation
for the internal PC's processor and power supply. Read hint above.

  • Installing PC games is easy:
    * Open the Arcade Master's back panel.
    * Attach a keyboard to one of the free [marked] USB ports.
    * Open the DVD-RW drive by either carefully finding the Eject
       switch or navigating to:
START >> MY COMPUTER >> D:\          (highlight it, then at top)
       Click "File", then click "Eject".
    * Insert the Installation disk and follow the installation procedure,
except in the step for directory choose, change "C:\Program..."
to "E:\Program...". Just highlight the Drive letter "C" and change
it to "E". Then follow the installation out. Don't allow Desktop
Shortcuts to be installed or System tray icons!
    * Assign controls to your comfort and have fun! (Some PC games
don't allow some default controls of the Arcade Master, but
don't give up without a little experimentation!

P1/P2 Button Layout:

  4 5 6

  1 2 3

7       8

Example:

(In this arrangement, the button on

the top-left of the Player-1 side

is referred to as: P1#4.)

Secret Control Panel (CP) Commands:

P1#2 + P2#8 = [Alt+Enter] = Toggle Fullscreen (on several emulators)

(This can happen unintentionally on 2-player games.)

P1#2 = [Alt] = Toggle Emulator File Menu Window (Playstation Only)

P1#1 + AdminRed = [Ctrl+Esc] = Windows Start Menu

P1#1 + P1#7 = [Ctrl+C] = Copy Selection to Windows Clipboard

P1#1 + P1#6 = [Ctrl+X] = Cut selection to Windows Clipboard

"Rename a file" trick #1:

   1) Select a file (While in Windows)

   2) Press this chain sequence:

      [P1#2],[P1JoyDown],[P2#5] or [Alt],[Arrow Down],[M]

   3) Use an attached keyboard or CP buttons (see Below)

to type name then P2#8 [Enter] to save new name.

"Rename a file" trick #2:

   1) Use Trackball to point at a file

   2) Use P1#8 [L_Mouse_Btn] to click the file's name.

   3) Use an attached keyboard or CP buttons (see below)

to type name then P2#8 [Enter] to save new name.

Using a keyboard to break out of an emulator crash/freeze:

   Method #1:

   1) Use [Alt] + [F4] to Exit out of the frozen program.

   Method #2:

   1) Use [Ctrl]+[Alt]+[Delete] to call up the Windows Task Manager

   2) Even if the TaskMan is not visible use the following commands to

end the operation of the frozen program (it's usually

the first program on the Task Manager's list):

      [TAB], [E].

-(This should end the frozen/crashed emulator and revert

back to the Arcade Master menu. If the menu is visible but not

responding, Try this sequence to switch focus back to the

  Arcade Master Menu:

      [Ctrl]+[Alt]+[Delete],[Tab],[Tab],[S].)

-In a worst case scenario, you can always tap the "Power On" switch,

which will cut power to the PC. This will usually revert the registry

modifications back to factory presets and may require you to

follow the "POWER INTERRUPTIONS/SYSTEM RESTORE" help below.

-That's a kind of problem which can be avoided in the future by

also following the "Delete a Game" help below.

Control Panel Master List (Keyboard Equivalents):

(Plenty of buttons for navigating Windows.

Attach a keyboard for the rest, like TAB,

or a Mouse for Right-Click. Use free USB

ports on Arcade Master's internal PC.)

Be Patient. The other directories refresh practically instantly.

Also, be sure you are only deleting a game from the intended

directory. For instance: If you want to delete a Playstation game,

don't use the wrong path from above and delete a game with the

same title in the Super Nintendo directory. Unless, of course, you

just hate that particular game and want it wiped out regardless.]

How to ADD GAMES to the games list:

1) Using your own computer with an internet connection:

Download a game rom and a snapsot for the new game and

copy them to either a USB storage device or CD/DVD-Rom.

2) Connect the drive to a free USB port on the Arcade

Master's inner PC or insert the disk in the drive.

3) Copy/Paste the game rom to the appropriate folder:

#        PLAYSTATION HELP             #

#######################################

Playstation "No-Disc" mode, or

How to manage the Playstation Memory Cards (copying/deleting saves):

1) Get a Playstation game running, then press P1_Button#2 [Alt].

This will pause the game and bring up the PSXfin render window.

2) Use the P1_Joystick [Arrow Keys] to pull navigate the drop-down

File Menu and highlight "Eject CD" and press P2_Button#8 [Enter].

3) The menu goes away, so press P1_Button#2 [Alt] again and

navigate the drop-down File Menu to highlight "Reset" and

   press P2_Button#8 [Enter].

4) The PSX emulator will now be in "No-Disc" mode, where you

can manage both Left & Right side memory cards.

5) When done, just exit out of the emulator like usual and

the changes will be in effect next time you run a PSX game.

How to switch out a Playstation memory card (Method #1):

(For keeping full card saves & starting a new card.)

1) Exit the Arcade Master menu to Windows. (From the menu,

press the Red Button on the central Admin Row [Esc].)

2) Go to the folder with the PSX memory cards:

   (Use Trackball & P1#8 [L_Mouse])

   START >> My Computer >>

   "C:\emulators\PSX\cards\"

   [NOTE:

The default cards are "000000.bin" [Left Side] and

"000001.bin" [Right Side], but the folder contains about

25 extra cards for lots of game saves.]

3) Rename the currently loaded card (usually "000000.bin") to

some other name of your choosing (ex: "mycard1.bin").

(Do this by clicking on it to highlight and click on the

File Menu at top and select "Rename" from the list, and

attach a keyboard for typing or just use P2 buttons

   1-7 for A, S, Q, W, M, N, H & 8 for Enter.)

That will save the card for loading again later.

4) Rename one of the other cards to "000000.bin". That's

the file the emulator looks for & now it will find the

fresh one instead of the full one you just renamed.)

THAT's IT! A clean, new card!

NOTE: A nice alternative if no keyboard is present is the

Windows Character Map. Get to it by clicking to:

      "Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >>

       System Tools >> Character Map"

Type out what you want by clicking on the letters,

press Copy button, then when renaming, just Paste

what you copied from the Character Map.

How to switch out a Playstation Memory Card (Method #2):

1) Attach a PC Keyboard to an open USB port on the

   Arcade Master's inner PC.

2) From the Arcade Master Playstation menu, start a game.

3) With the game running, press Player1_Button#2 [Alt]. This

will pause the game and pull up the PSXFIN render window.

4) Use the Arrow Keys (P1 Joystick) to drop down the menu

and highlight "CONFIGURATION", then press ENTER [P2#8].

5) Navigate through the Configuration menu with TAB, the

ARROW KEYS and ENTER. (Use TAB to cycle through selections,

use SHIFT to cycle TAB in opposite direction, use the

ARROW KEYS to choose a selection from a group, and

use ENTER to click on any highlighted selection.)

6) Using this control method, make your way to the "MEMORY CARDS"

tab in the Configuration Menu, TAB to the one you want to

switch and use ENTER to click the "..." button [browse].

If not defaulted there, the path is as follows:

   C:\emulators\PSX\cards\[------.bin]

7) Navigate the browse dialog the same way and use Enter

to click on your selections. Using TAB, ARROWS & ENTER,

OK your way out of the menu and the Playstation game

   will resume.

NOTE:

There are over 2 dozen spare cards, but you can always use

"No-Disc" mode to manage the contents of your cards (see above).

How to switch out a Playstation disc (disc 1 to disc 2, etc.):

1) Connect a pc keyboard to an open USB port on the

   Arcade Master's internal pc.

2) When the Playstation game prompts you to

change discs, press P1#2 [Alt] and use the

P1 Joystick [Arrow Keys] to navigate the File

menu that pops up to "Eject CD". Press P2#8

[Enter], and it will go back to the emulator.

3) Press P1#2 [Alt] again and use the P1 Joystick

[Arrow Keys] to Navigate to "Insert CD Image".

Press P2#8 [Enter] and you will get to an "Open"

   Explorer window.

4) Using TAB, Arrow Keys & Enter on the keyboard (as

explained above), navigate to the directory:

   "E:\PSX\roms\"

Using same navigation technique, open the BIN file

for the game disc you need to insert.

5) In most cases, the emulator will take over here

and progress you through to the new disc's menu.

If not, try pressing P1#2 [Alt] again and use the

P1 Joystick [Arrow Keys] to navigate to "Reset"

and press P2#8 [Enter], or Exit [Esc] & try again.

NOTE: Some games (especially those requiring save

before disc change) can simply be exited from

the normal way and start the next disc the normal

way from the menu, and the disc will load data

      from the "Memory Card".

How to manage an N64 Controller Pack:

This is pretty simple, though many games don't allow

direct management of the Controller Pack contents from

within the game. The trick is to use a game with an

option to manage the Controller Pack within the game's

menu.

Several games allow this from their main menu:

"Shadow Man" is one of many examples you'll find.
